Groups small enough to be known
Between five and nine children per adult, depending on age. Every teacher can tell you what your child did today without checking a note.
Baraem is a bilingual kindergarten where two to six year olds learn by digging, building, arguing about rules and telling long stories. Unhurried days, small groups, and teachers who stay.

We are not the biggest kindergarten in the city and we are not trying to be. These are the things families tell us actually matter.

Nine of our ten lead teachers have been here more than four years. Children get continuity, and so do you.
A garden with real soil, a climbing yard, and a rule that light rain is still outdoor weather.
Each adult stays in one language all morning. No mid-sentence translation, no confusion, and no child left behind in either.
A daily note for the little ones, a same-day call if anything is unusual, and two long conferences a year.
Four age groups and two afternoon clubs. Children move up when they are ready, not when a calendar says so.
Not sure which group fits your child? Ask us — we will tell you honestly.
Nothing on this list is a special event. It is simply what a Tuesday looks like.
A gap in the timetable with nothing in it, on purpose. It is where the inventing happens.
Two outdoor blocks a day — one for running, one for digging and watering.
Clay, wood, wire and hand drills sized for small palms. No plastic versions of real things.
Every group, every day, in Arabic and in English, with puppets when the story needs them.
Lunch is prepared on site and the menu is published a week ahead.
Photos and a short note before you arrive at the gate, not three days later.
Twenty-two of us altogether. These are the ones you will see at the gate.

If your question is not here, call the office — a person answers.
Ask the office directly. We answer the phone during school hours and reply to email within two working days.
We take children from two years old through to the end of the kindergarten year at six. Sprouts starts at two, and children move up in September based on age and readiness rather than a fixed date.
Send the application form on this site, and we reply within two working days with a visit time. After the visit you will have a written place offer within a week. Nothing is due until you accept.
Yes, and we would rather you did. Visits run on Tuesday and Thursday mornings while the classes are in full swing, because a quiet empty building tells you nothing.
One adult to five children in Sprouts, one to six in Seedlings, one to eight in Saplings and one to nine in Sunflowers. Those are staffed ratios, not licence minimums.
Morning plans include a snack and fruit. Full day plans include a cooked lunch prepared on site. We publish the menu every Thursday for the following week and cater for allergies with a written plan.
Notes from the teachers about what actually happens in an early years room.
There is a gap in our timetable with nothing in it. It is the most productive part of the morning.
